Chase Gift Cards
Off on their own (finally)
As so many parents learn shortly after their children have finally moved out of the house, just because they have physically left does not mean that they don't need you anymore! For some parents, that rude awakening comes when their child has accumulated far too much debt. In lieu of credit cards, then, many parents are opting for Chase gift cards. That way there is no way that their little sweethearts can get themselves or their parents into any debt. But, they will still have the freedom and flexibility of a Chase card that can be used wherever their credit cards are accepted.
For many Chase gift cards are the first step towards a real credit card. The debt level in this country attests to the fact that there are far too many of us that seem to think that charging on a credit card does not come with any consequences. And then the debt rolls in. So, start off with a Chase gift card and see how that goes. Lay down the law of the Chase gift cards that are given and what, exactly they should be used for. Of course, you should factor in a few "bad choices", i.e., those that are purely for fun. But, so long as they are able to handle Chase gift cards, they should be better able to tackle a credit card that comes with the promise of high interest rates later on in life.
There will be enough debt for most students to have to deal with after they graduate and find out that the world might not be their oyster after all. Don't let them add to the burden with credit card debt. Start the fiscal instruction with a few Chase gift cards and the wait will be well worth it for them, as they will qualify for all the Chase cards they want in the future!
